I was at a point in my life where I had witnessed God in many areas of my life. So many things happened that previous year (2015) and my journal was full of how tough things were. It was my first year in college. I had to learn to be independent on campus in a short amount of time; still, I was dependent on my mum for everything. My relationships were a mess as I had to make new friends while working too hard at being someone I wasn’t.
However, through it all, I spent a lot of time praising and worshiping as I nurtured my relationship with God. I also began to understand more and more that God has plans for us – good plans – plans that will not harm us, but will give us hope and a good future (Jeremiah 29:11). I found peace within and soon knew I had to share what God installed in my heart as a writer.
Keturah Ford (founder of WomenSeekingGod.org) was looking for a guest blogger for the organization and I saw the post while browsing through my social media. She required me to submit a writing sample, my background information, and what topics I desired to share with women all over the world.
At first, I felt discouraged because I am in South Africa and WomenSeekingGod.org is based in the United States. I was pretty sure that I wouldn’t receive a reply; however, God is everywhere, right? The thought of touching and hopefully impacting the life of a woman who is miles and miles away excited me. I needed to just go for it. After all, I am a woman seeking God.
A few days later, I received a reply and guess what? Mrs. Ford wanted to chat via a video call so that we could meet officially. We organized the time to talk through Google Chat and she was amazing. I got to see her bright smile and beautiful and very welcoming face. Since that day, I never looked back.
Being apart of this organization has changed my life in the most unimaginable way. I became confident and more content with being a woman who is seeking God daily. I am unafraid and unashamed. I am bold.
How will you be bold for God in 2017? Feel free to share in the comments section below.
